Summary
Berkshire Healthcare Foundation Trust has an exciting vacancy for a part timestaff nurse to join the West Berkshire health visiting team.
We are looking for a highly organised, motivated staff nurse to join the team to support the health visiting service in West Berkshire. The team are responsible for providing a service to children and their families aged 0-5 that live within the West Berkshire boundary.
The ideal candidate will have good organisational, IT and communication skills with a passion for the health and well-being of children aged 0-5 years and their families.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work as part of a supportive and friendly team where they will be supported to develop in their role.
You must be a driver and have use of a car.
• Work with the HV team to achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), particularly 6–8 week postnatal contacts. Provide support to families in a range of community settings under the direction of the Health Visitor, considering diverse needs.
• Plan and deliver health-enhancing activities for children and families, including groups, child health clinics, developmental reviews, and individual support. Provide support using the Solihull approach for behaviour management, parenting skills, and care programmes for vulnerable families identified by the Health Visitor.
• Support breastfeeding and parent-infant relationships in line with Unicef UK Baby Friendly Initiative standards. Contribute to the Chat Health text service, offering advice to parents. Maintain awareness of local safeguarding policies and procedures.
• Work in partnership with Children’s Centres and Early Years settings to promote health and wellbeing. Undertake additional responsibilities within the team under Health Visitor direction.
• Act as a practice supervisor for pre-registration nursing students and new staff, supporting placements and learning environments. Participate in clinical, management, and child protection supervision.
• Liaise with agencies to provide integrated support for families. Deliver evidence-based care and support others’ development. Contribute to teaching programmes and training for students and new staff. Work within staff nurse competency framework.
