Summary

About the Service
The Nest is a small, 2-bed residential children’s home supporting children and young people aged 7–17 (on admission) with emotional, social, and behavioural difficulties.

The service provides a safe, structured, and nurturing environment where young people are supported to develop emotional regulation, build confidence, and work towards greater independence.

A strong focus is placed on positive routines, healthy lifestyles, and community engagement, with young people encouraged to take part in activities such as sports, walking, fitness sessions, and creative outlets to support wellbeing and development.

Placements may be short or long term, with clear progression pathways including reunification, foster care transition, or preparation for independent or supported living.

The Role
We are looking for an experienced Team Leader to support the management team in leading day-to-day practice within this small residential setting.

You will take responsibility for leading shifts, supporting staff, and ensuring young people receive consistent, high-quality care in line with their individual plans and needs.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you will be closely involved in both operational delivery and direct support.

Support the implementation of individual care plans and behaviour support strategies

Maintain accurate records, logs, and incident reports
Encourage participation in healthy activities and community engagement
Work collaboratively with external professionals and families
Contribute to a stable, nurturing, and supportive home environment

About You
NVQ Level 3 / Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
Experience within a children’s residential care setting
Previous experience in a senior support or team leader role (preferred)
Strong understanding of safeguarding and residential care standards
Confident in leading shifts and supporting staff practice
Calm, consistent, and able to manage challenging behaviour
Strong communication and organisational skills
Passionate about supporting children and young people to achieve positive outcomes

Benefits
Salary £33,000 – £35,500
Ongoing training and development
Career progression opportunities
Supportive leadership structure
Opportunity to work in a small, stable residential home

The Opportunity
This is a great opportunity for an experienced residential practitioner ready to step into a leadership role within a small, structured home.
