Reporting to: Communications and Events Manager

Purpose of Post:

This role will provide support across the Content and Communications team within the University’s Student Recruitment, Marketing and Admissions directorate. The postholder will also contribute to driving forward the University’s digital presence, helping encourage Birmingham Newman to raise its profile and engagement across multiple social platforms, creating and sharing targeted, relevant, and timely content. Messaging will align to the institutional calendar and developed to reflect changing audiences and customer demographics.

The role will involve communications support across the Content and Communications team, providing input into event coordination, CRM and web management, and internal and external communications delivery and monitoring. With a natural flair for creative thinking, storytelling and digital content creation, the postholder will also enhance our online presence, develop wider engagement and influence, and monitor our social media.



Main responsibilities:



To provide communications support across the Content and Communications Team

Working with the Communications and Events Manager, Web and Digital Manager, and CRM Officer to assist with content and messaging development, and delivery

To help drive forward the University’s digital presence, with a primary focus on social media and supporting with web, CRM and the University’s digital screen network

Support with content creation, working with the Content Creation Officer to deliver the University’s Content Strategy

To provide support for institutional/subject based digital content creation, both proactively and reactively

Lead on organic social media activity, coordinating the departmental approach to organic social media activity / output across the Content and Communications team and in support of the institutional calendar

To provide prompt support both proactively and reactively to uphold the institutional reputation across social media channels

Develop, implement and monitor social media plans aligned to marketing objectives and campaign activity

Leading ongoing reviews of social media platforms in line with changes in audience and demographics

Working collaboratively to ensure that social platforms align to the University calendar, e.g. clearing, open days, January recruitment, while also overseeing and coordinating institutional and national content campaigns e.g. National Green Week, Black History Month, International Women’s Day

Ensuring alignment between social media priorities and the content on the University website

To assist with audience development, including alumni and other external stakeholders

Planning and delivering the analytics and reporting/insights from campaigns

Horizon scanning of emerging themes/social trends/digital engagement and innovation Deputising for the Communications and Events Manager, Web and Digital Manager, or CRM Officer when necessary

Supporting the wider marketing team with crisis communications as required

In accordance with the University’s Information Security Policy, the post holder will be dealing with ‘restricted information’ as part of their duties.



2. Health & Safety:

The post holder must report to management any injuries they receive whilst at work.
