Summary

Project Engineer – Design & Certification

Portsmouth | £45,000–£50,000 + Package

I’m working with a growing aerospace engineering business looking to bring in a Project Engineer to support the design, development, and certification of new and existing products.

This is a hands-on, full lifecycle role, ideal for someone who wants more ownership beyond just design work and is keen to develop further into certification and regulated engineering environments.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for delivering engineering projects from initial customer requirements through to final certification and delivery, working closely with design, manufacturing, and quality teams.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing customer requirements, technical specifications, and Statements of Work
  • Supporting bids and proposals, including compliance matrices and certification plans
  • 2D and 3D design of products, ensuring manufacturability and compliance
  • Producing certification documentation including test plans and reports
  • Supporting production and quality with non-conformances and root cause analysis
  • Collaborating with suppliers on development, testing, and delivery
  • Contributing to continuous improvement and internal engineering processes

    What They’re Looking For

    • Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent experience)
    • Experience in a design-focused engineering environment, ideally within aerospace or regulated industries
    • Strong CAD skills (SolidWorks or CATIA preferred)
    • Understanding of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and technical drawings
    • Experience with root cause analysis (8D, 5 Whys, Ishikawa etc.)
    • Exposure to aerospace standards or certification processes is highly beneficial
    • Familiarity with PLM/PDM or ERP systems is advantageous

      Why Apply?

      • End-to-end project ownership, not just design work
      • Exposure to certification and regulated engineering, a strong career accelerator
      • Work closely with manufacturing, quality, and suppliers
      • Opportunity to develop within a growing, fast-paced engineering team
      • Real involvement in products going onto aircraft

        Interested?

If you’re looking for a role where you can broaden your skillset, take ownership, and gain valuable certification experience, I’d be keen to speak.

Apply now or get in touch for more information.
