Summary

Manufacturing Engineer

We are working with a leading aerospace manufacturing organisation based in Portsmouth, supporting both commercial and defence sectors. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit a Manufacturing Engineer to join their high-performing team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in delivering innovative, safety-critical products while driving continuous improvement across manufacturing processes.

The Role

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for all aspects of manufacturing engineering, including new product introduction (NPI) and ongoing product support. You will play a crucial role in improving efficiency, quality, and productivity across the site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and optimise manufacturing processes to improve quality, throughput, and cost-efficiency
  • Apply Lean principles to reduce waste and enhance operational performance
  • Support new product introduction and manufacturing readiness
  • Create and maintain process specifications and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
  • Support risk mitigation activities using APQP and PPAP methodologies
  • Assist with the introduction of new equipment, tooling, and manufacturing facilities
  • Develop manufacturing routings and support First Article Inspections (FAIs)
    About You
    • Experience in a manufacturing or production engineering environment
    • Strong problem-solving skills with experience in root cause analysis
    • Good understanding of Lean principles and continuous improvement
    • Strong communication and organisational skills
    • Competent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
      Desirable Skills & Experience
      • Experience working with rubber or polyurethane materials
      • Knowledge of SAP, including BoMs and routings
      • Experience with APQP, PPAP, and associated quality tools
      • CAD experience (CATIA or AutoCAD)
      • Knowledge of production automation or process control systems
      • Lean Six Sigma Yellow or Green Belt
      • Qualifications - HNC/HND (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering (essential)
      • Degree-level qualification in a relevant engineering discipline (desirable)
