Job Description
This Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer position focuses on advising management on quality improvements and optimizing the QA process to ensure compliance with UK/US standards. You will be responsible for examining contractor QA processes, ensuring deficiencies are identified and corrected, and collaborating with project teams to certify that all facilities are fit for purpose. The role involves developing quality assurance requirements, evaluating and recommending improvements for design and construction plans, and coordinating with all stakeholders to gain approval for QA programs. This position also requires using computer software like CADD and strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental rules.
Qualifications and Key skills for the position.
A valid UK driver's license (Category B) is required in addition to:
A degree in an appropriate scientific field plus one year of specialized experience as per the required key skills, or
HND/City and Guilds/ NVQ Level 5/6 in an appropriate scientific field. Progressively more years of specialized experience (as outlined in the key skills) are required for qualifications below degree level.
1. Professional knowledge of multi-disciplinary engineering concepts, principles, and practices and familiar with engineering disciplines and architecture.
2. Knowledge of program planning and budgeting cycles, financial control and budget systems, and management; as well as of work classifications and the regulatory and statutory restrictions on the expenditures of appropriated and non-appropriated funds.
3. Knowledge of automated data processing concepts, systems capabilities, and economic usage to effectively accomplish assigned functions.
4. Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental requirements as outlined in applicable standards, regulations, and/or technical orders.
5. Ability to plan, conduct, and record site/facility surveys and inspections.
6. Ability to plan and organize work; analyze, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, and procedures in a variety of situations; recommend timely and economical solutions; coordinate with other engineering disciplines and architects; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; and maintain good working relations.
Conditions of employment
1. You will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules and regulations. This position may also be coded as mission essential.
2. You may be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft, and you may also be required to travel to the US or other country, in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training.
3. You will be required to complete a 6-month probationary period.
4. Start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with organization’s flexible working policies. Overtime may be required and you may be assigned other duties not included in this position description, but that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the incumbent.
5. You must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and must obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
6. You may act as project liaison with the Defence Infrastructure Organization or other design agencies as required.
7. The work requires the employee to access facilities and infrastructure which may require climbing on, crawling under or extensive walking at construction sites, hard hat areas or other base areas.
8. The Local National Direct Hire (LNDH) Program does not participate in regular drug testing, however positions covered by this document may be subject to drug testing upon reasonable suspicion of substance abuse, and safety mishap or accident testing.
