Job Description:
Job Summary:
To manufacture high-quality fibre-reinforced plastic (FRP) products using glass fibre lamination techniques. The operative is responsible for preparing moulds, cutting and layering materials, applying resins, and ensuring the final product meets quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Preparation:
Read and interpret technical drawings and work instructions.
Prepare moulds by applying release agents to prevent sticking.
Measure and cut glass fibre matting and fabrics to required sizes.
Lamination & Application:
Mix and apply resins, gel coats, and catalysts following safety guidelines.
Lay up glass fibre layers manually or using spray-up methods.
Use rollers and brushes to remove air pockets and ensure an even laminate.
Monitor curing times and temperatures to achieve optimal results.
Finishing & Quality Control:
Trim, sand, and polish finished parts to meet specifications.
Conduct visual and manual inspections for defects such as bubbles, dry spots, or uneven layers.
Ensure products meet quality and safety standards before dispatch.
Health & Safety Compliance:
Wear appropriate PPE, including gloves, masks, and protective eyewear.
Follow COSHH regulations for handling chemicals and resins.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment to prevent accidents.
Qualifications & Skills:
Strong knowledge of fiberglass laminating processes, materials, and industry best practices.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, CAD, and production plans.
Hands-on experience with resin application, vacuum bagging, and mould preparation.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations related to fiberglass production.
Education & Experience:
High school GCSE (Maths & English => level 4) or equivalent (required
