Summary
Purpose of Role:
To operate forklift trucks to safely and efficiently move, load, and store goods, supporting the smooth operation of the gatehouse, laminating & finishing departments. The role plays a key part in maintaining operational deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
· Safely operate forklifts (counterbalance, reach truck, etc.) to move goods in line with company procedures.
· Load and unload vehicles, ensuring accuracy of deliveries and dispatches.
· Relocate and stack goods in designated locations.
· Conduct daily safety checks on forklift equipment and report defects.
· Assist with stock control, inventory counts, and documentation.
· Ensure safe handling of goods, particularly fragile materials.
· Maintain a clean and organised work environment.
· Work closely with operations & finishing departments to meet KPIs and deadlines.
Key Relationships:
· Internal: Gatehouse Supervisor, Finishing Manager, Health & Safety Officers.
· External: Delivery Drivers, Contractors (when applicable)
Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
Essential:
· Valid forklift license (e.g., RTITB)
· Previous experience in a forklift/warehouse environment
· Understanding of warehouse safety and manual handling procedures
· Ability to read and complete basic documentation and stock records
Desirable:
· Experience operating different types of forklifts (e.g., VNA, side loader)
· Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS)
· Basic computer skills (for scanning, inventory systems)
