Summary
A Gatehouse Operative is responsible for assembling, fitting, and installing various components of gatehouses. This role involves working with materials such as wood, metal, and plastics to construct high-quality mobile living spaces. The operative ensures that each gatehouse meets industry safety standards and customer specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
Assembly & Installation: Build and install gatehouse components, including walls, floors, furniture, and fixtures.
Electrical & Plumbing Work: Assist in fitting wiring, lighting, and water systems.
Carpentry & Joinery: Cut, shape, and fit wooden structures for interiors and storage spaces.
Quality Control: Inspect and test completed work to ensure it meets safety and quality standards.
Use of Tools & Machinery: Operate hand tools, power tools, and workshop machinery safely.
Reading Technical Drawings: Follow CAD drawings, diagrams, and work instructions accurately.
Problem-Solving: Identify and fix any issues during the build process.
Health & Safety Compliance: Follow all workplace safety regulations and procedures.
Skills & Experience Required:
✅ Experience in gatehouse manufacturing, or a similar hands-on role (preferred).
✅ Knowledge of carpentry, electrics, plumbing, or general house interior assembly.
✅ Ability to read and understand technical drawings and instructions.
✅ Experience using hand and power tools safely and effectively.
✅ Good attention to detail and commitment to quality.
✅ Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
✅ Basic understanding of health & safety in a workshop setting.
Desirable Qualifications:
NVQ Level 2 or 3 in a relevant trade (e.g., Joinery, Plumbing, Electrical, or Engineering).
Previous experience in vehicle or gatehouse conversions.
Forklift or workshop machinery certification (if applicable).
Work Environment & Conditions:
Manufacturing plant environment with exposure to machinery and equipment.
May require standing for extended periods and occasional lifting of materials.
Compliance with safety protocols is mandatory.
