This is a highly rewarding role for someone who is passionate about helping young people navigate challenges, re-engage with education, and develop the skills needed for long-term success.

As a Student Behaviour Mentor, you will:

• Provide targeted 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs
• Use calm, consistent approaches to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour
• Build strong, trusting relationships to support engagement and emotional wellbeing
• Work alongside teaching staff to adapt learning activities to suit individual needs
• Encourage positive decision-making, resilience, and self-regulation
• Support pupils who may be at risk of exclusion or returning to education
• Help create a safe, structured, and supportive environment for learning
• Act as a positive role model, promoting respect and consistency
• Monitor progress and provide feedback to support ongoing development

Your role will be central to helping students feel understood, supported, and motivated to succeed.

We're looking for someone who:

• Has experience working with challenging behaviour or SEMH needs
• Comes from a background in education, youth work, care, sports coaching, or alternative provision
• Is calm, resilient, and confident in high-pressure situations
• Builds positive relationships quickly and effectively
• Has strong communication and teamwork skills
• Is proactive, adaptable, and able to use initiative
• Is passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers
• Is interested in a long-term role with potential to go permanent

• A full-time role with a clear pathway to permanent employment
• A supportive and experienced staff team
• Access to training, CPD, and behaviour-focused development
• The opportunity to work in a specialist setting where your impact is visible daily
• A genuinely rewarding role supporting students who need it most

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All applicants will be required to:

• Complete an Enhanced DBS check
• Provide satisfactory references
• Demonstrate a clear understanding of safeguarding responsibilities
