Are you a resilient, compassionate, and proactive individual with a passion for supporting young people? Teaching Personnel are seeking a strong SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream secondary school in the Accrington area. This is an excellent opportunity for someone experienced in supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs who thrives in a dynamic school environment.

The Role

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support to students with SEMH needs
- Help students regulate emotions, build confidence, and develop coping strategies
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams
- Support behaviour management and create a calm, positive learning atmosphere
- Contribute to personalised learning plans and interventions
- Build trusting relationships with students to help them reach their full potential

What We're Looking For

We are seeking candidates who are:
- Experienced in working with SEMH, challenging behaviour, or additional needs
- Confident, patient, and emotionally resilient
- Able to remain calm under pressure
- Excellent communicators with a nurturing approach
- Willing to adapt and think creatively to meet individual needs
- Available full-time from June 2026

A background in youth work, mentoring, care, sports coaching, or psychology is highly valued.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
