A specialist civil engineering contractor delivering complex coastal, river, flood defence and infrastructure projects across the UK. The business is recognised for its expertise in challenging environments, particularly water-based and multi-disciplinary civil engineering schemes.
The Project
This role will support delivery of a £12m flood defence and drainage scheme at Barking Riverside, a major regeneration development in East London.
The project includes:
500m of Thames foreshore works
Flood defence raising and earthworks
Reinforced concrete structures and sheet piling
Drainage systems including swales, attenuation and storage
Public realm and ecological enhancements
The scheme is critical to unlocking housing and infrastructure within one of London's largest regeneration projects and is scheduled to run through to 2027.
The Role
Seeking a Project Manager (or an experienced Site Manager ready to step up) to take ownership of delivery on this technically challenging heavy civils scheme.
You will be responsible for leading site operations, managing teams and supply chain, and ensuring safe, high-quality and commercially successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Lead day-to-day project delivery across all site activities
Manage programme, resources and subcontractors
Ensure compliance with HSEQ standards and company procedures
Oversee engineering delivery across:
Earthworks & regrading
Piling / sheet piling
Reinforced concrete structures
Drainage & water management systems
Work closely with commercial teams to manage cost and change control
Interface with client, stakeholders and local authorities
Drive programme, productivity and quality on site
Support planning, sequencing and logistics in a constrained riverside environment
Candidate Profile
Essential Experience
Proven experience as a Project Manager OR strong Site Manager ready to step up
Background working with a Tier 2 civil engineering contractor
Demonstrable experience in heavy civils, including one or more of:
Earthworks / bulk excavation
Piling (sheet piling desirable)
Reinforced concrete structures
Drainage / infrastructure works
Marine or riverside projects
Key Skills & Attributes
Strong leadership and team management capability
Commercial awareness and programme control
Experience managing complex, multi-disciplinary civils schemes
Ability to work in technically challenging environments (e.g. water, tidal, constrained sites)
Proactive, driven and eager to progress within a growing contractor
