About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and skilled ICT Technical Analyst to join our dynamic ICT Department. In this key role, you will design, build, manage, and support the organisation’s infrastructure, including both hardware and software systems. Your work will directly contribute to the stability, security, and performance of our technology environments, enabling the effective delivery of services to internal users and the public.

You will also be responsible for maintaining and managing software applications, ensuring they meet operational requirements and provide an excellent user experience.

This is a career-graded position (E–G), offering a clear pathway for professional development. Progression is based on your knowledge, competencies, and ability to take on increasing responsibility.

Associate Level

Qualifications & Knowledge

HNC/HND or equivalent (RQF Level 4/5) in Computer Science or closely related subject; or relevant experience in infrastructure hardware and software systems.

Skills & Requirements

Ability to support hardware, software, networks, storage, physical infrastructure, COTS products, and open-source solutions.

Awareness of virtual and cloud computing (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).

Understanding of information security principles and relevant security controls.

Awareness of modern standards and best practice methodologies.

Ability to assist in problem investigation and escalate issues appropriately.

Understanding of system design principles and integration challenges.

Ability to carry out basic troubleshooting across a range of technology areas.

Analyst Level

Qualifications & Knowledge

HND or Degree level qualification (RQF Level 5/6) in Computer Science or closely related subject; or equivalent professional experience.

Formal training in relevant hardware and software systems.

Understanding of core technical concepts with the ability to apply them under guidance.

Skills & Requirements

Ability to build, configure, administer and support infrastructure technologies (hardware, software, networking, cloud solutions, COTS, open source).

Understanding and application of modern standards approaches.

Ability to manage issues through to resolution or handover.

Strong service orientation with the ability to translate requirements into effective solutions.

Working knowledge of system design and documentation standards.

Ability to build and test system interfaces and support system integration activities.

Ability to execute test scripts under supervision and understand testing processes.

Troubleshooting ability across different technology capabilities.

Awareness of available scripting tools and understanding of software limitations.

Senior Analyst

Qualifications & Knowledge

Degree level qualification (RQF Level 6) or significant equivalent experience in infrastructure hardware and software systems.

Advanced formal training in relevant hardware and software technologies.

Deep technical understanding and ability to explain concepts within the broader technical landscape.

Skills & Requirements

Ability to design, implement, administer, and support complex technologies and solutions (including cloud, networking, infrastructure, COTS, and open source).

Strong understanding of information security and ability to design and operate appropriate controls.

Ability to apply modern standards and mentor others in their use.

Ability to investigate complex problems, identify patterns, and consult subject matter specialists where necessary.

Comprehensive knowledge of systems design with the ability to select and apply appropriate standards, methods, and tools.

Ability to review and assure the design work of others.

Ability to define and coordinate integration builds and support integration testing.

Ability to develop test conditions, identify risks, and evaluate test outcomes.

Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose root causes across multiple technology domains.
