We are seeking a motivated doctor with experience in Emergency Medicine or Acute Medicine to join our Urgent and Emergency Medicine directorate as a Safety Improvement Fellow.

This fellowship offers the opportunity to work with the UEM leadership team and the Trust Safety Improvement programme to deliver projects that improve patient safety and quality of care across a large academic NHS Trust.

The successful candidate will gain practical experience in patient safety investigation, quality improvement methodology and system-wide safety improvement, supporting work aligned with the NHS Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF).

The fellow will work closely with the Clinical Director for Urgent and Emergency Medicine and the Trust Safety Improvement team, contributing to safety investigations and improvement initiatives that directly influence frontline emergency care.

The role provides valuable experience for doctors with registrar-level clinical experience in acute care who are interested in developing skills in clinical leadership, patient safety and quality improvement, including experience leading improvement projects, analysing safety data and presenting work within governance forums.

Key responsibilities include:

· Leading and supporting patient safety and quality improvement projects

· Analysing incident reports, governance data and safety themes to identify opportunities for improvement

· Supporting the implementation of the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF)

· Working with multidisciplinary teams to design and deliver safety interventions

· Presenting findings and recommendations at governance and quality meetings

· Supporting engagement with patient safety across the resident doctor workforce

· Producing reports, improvement plans and evaluation of safety initiatives

The fellow will work closely with the Safety Improvement team in the Medical Director’s Office and the Urgent and Emergency Medicine leadership team, gaining exposure to Trust-level governance and improvement strategy.
