As an Apprenticeship and Commercial Manager in our Employment, Skills and Training team, you’ll take the lead on delivering high‑quality apprenticeship and commercial programmes that support learners, employers, and partners to achieve meaningful outcomes. You’ll help shape new opportunities, strengthen delivery, and ensure we continue to create impactful solutions that make a positive difference in communities.

What you’ll do as an Apprenticeship and Commercial Manager You’ll be entrusted to:
- Manage resources to deliver Degree Apprenticeships, Apprenticeship programmes, and Commercial Programmes in line with operational, regulatory, compliance, and quality requirements.
- Lead planning and design of apprenticeship and commercial programmes, ensuring they meet employer demand, financial viability, Ofsted standards, and awarding‑body expectations.
- Oversee safeguarding, Prevent duties, and learner wellbeing.
- Manage health and safety operations to ensure alignment with Serco’s Safety Management System.
- Work collaboratively across Employment, Skills and Training to embed a customer‑ and learner‑centred culture.
- Review monthly performance data, KPIs, and forecasts, ensuring accountability and course delivery against targets.
- Contribute to growth planning, working with business development colleagues.
- Support the marketing strategy to ensure course uptake aligns with delivery plans.
- Identify and manage operational risks across all contracts and courses.
- Build strong communication channels with colleagues, external partners, and stakeholders.
- Lead, motivate, and develop your team to deliver great outcomes and strengthen talent pipelines.
Does this sound like you? You’ll be a great fit for this role if you have…
- Experience managing Degree Apprenticeships, Apprenticeship programmes, and Commercial training at a minimum Ofsted Grade 2 standard.
- A Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training (or equivalent, or working towards).
- Experience delivering vocational programmes in regulated environments (Ofsted, awarding bodies, etc.).
- Excellent planning, organisational skills, and the ability to thrive under pressure.
- A strong commitment to professional development, reflection, and continuous learning.
Vetting and checks:
A Standard DBS check will be carried out for this position. This includes spent and unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands, and warnings as permitted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act. An Occupational Health Questionnaire will also be completed so we can ensure you have the necessary support to perform your duties.
