Are you passionate about horticulture and helping young people re-engage with education through hands-on learning? TeacherActive is proud to be working with a supportive and forward-thinking Alternative Provision (AP) setting in the Beeston area. The provision supports students who may have struggled in mainstream education and provides a structured, nurturing environment where pupils can rebuild confidence and develop practical life skills.

They are now looking for a dedicated Horticulture Teacher to join their team and deliver engaging outdoor learning experiences that help students thrive.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys practical teaching, outdoor learning and supporting young people to succeed in a different educational environment.

What You’ll Be Doing as a Horticulture Teacher:

  • Planning and delivering engaging horticulture and land-based learning sessions

  • Supporting students through hands-on gardening and outdoor activities

  • Teaching practical skills such as planting, plant care, soil preparation and garden maintenance

  • Encouraging confidence, resilience and positive behaviour through practical learning

  • Adapting lessons to meet the needs of students who may have social, emotional and behavioural needs (SEMH)

  • Working closely with teaching staff, behaviour mentors and support teams

  • Helping to maintain a safe, structured and supportive learning environment

Temp-to-perm opportunity available for the right person.

✅ We’d Love to Hear from You If You:

    • Have experience teaching or working in horticulture, gardening, land-based studies or outdoor education

    • Are passionate about engaging young people through practical learning

    • Have experience working with students in Alternative Provision, SEMH or behaviour-focused settings (desirable)

    • Are calm, patient and resilient

    • Communicate clearly and enjoy working as part of a team

    • Understand safeguarding and child protection expectations

What You’ll Receive as a Horticulture Teacher with TeacherActive:

      • Ongoing support from a friendly, dedicated consultant

      • Free CPD and training through our My-Progression platform

      • Access to our Guaranteed Payment Scheme (T&Cs apply)

      • Competitive PAYE pay — no hidden costs or admin fees

      • Up to £100 referral bonus for recommending another education professional (T&Cs apply)

      • 24/7 support from our experienced team

If you’re ready to use horticulture and outdoor learning to inspire students and support them back into education, we’d love to hear from you.
