The Opportunity: Leading the Charge in City-Scale Decarbonisation
Are you an experienced HSE professional looking to move away from conventional, "box-ticking" processes and into a free-thinking, innovative environment?
Our client is a fast-growing pioneer in the low-carbon energy sector, currently investing over £1bn into state-of-the-art heat network projects across the UK. From powering homes in London to implementing city-wide district heating in Wales, they are at the forefront of the "Together to Zero" strategy.
We are seeking a Health, Safety and Environmental Manager to lead their HSE function, providing strategic and operational support for complex utility and construction delivery.
Key Responsibilities: Strategy, Compliance & Culture
- HSE Strategy: Develop and continuously improve the company’s Safety Management System (SMS). Establish a clear safety vision and move toward attaining an accredited ISO Management System.
- Risk Management: Conduct thorough risk assessments for construction and operational activities, working alongside department heads to implement robust RAMS.
- Operational Delivery: Lead site inspections and audits across nationwide projects to ensure total compliance with UK legislation and industry best practices.
- Incident & Emergency Response: Lead investigations into accidents and near-misses, ensuring timely closure and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Environmental Leadership: Develop environmental policies to ensure the business meets its ambitious sustainability objectives.
- Team Leadership: Manage and develop a dedicated HSE team to ensure the delivery of safety controls and reporting objectives.
The Package
- Base Salary: £60,000 (DOE).
- Bonus: Discretionary individual and business performance bonus.
- Leave: 25 days + Statutory (Option to buy/sell 5 additional days).
- Health & Wellbeing: Private healthcare, Cycle to Work scheme, and dedicated wellbeing support.
- Future-Focused: Electric Car lease scheme and continuous learning/development opportunities.
- Environment: A young, friendly, and inclusive culture that avoids "unnecessary complexity and silos."
What We’re Looking For
- Technical Expertise: A deep understanding of complex construction and/or utility infrastructure projects is essential.
- Qualifications: Minimum of a NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent).
- Experience: At least 5 years of experience within a construction or utility environment.
- Leadership: Proven experience in managing a team and the ability to communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, contractors, and specialist suppliers.
- Innovation: A "problem-solving" mindset with the desire to improve environmental performance and implement ISO standards.
