About the Company

A quality-focused housing developer based in Wolverhampton is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join their expanding team. The company is embarking on a number of exciting new build housing projects and welcomes applications from Assistant Quantity Surveyors ready to advance their careers as well as experienced Quantity Surveyors seeking a new challenge.

Job Duties

• Prepare and manage cost estimates and budgets for new build housing projects from inception to completion.
• Undertake detailed measurement and valuation of construction works to assess progress payments.
• Analyse tender documents, negotiate with contractors and suppliers to ensure cost efficiency.
• Monitor project costs closely to identify and report any variances or risks to budget.
• Produce regular financial reports and cost forecasts to support project teams and senior management.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, building regulations and company policies.
• Collaborate with design teams, contractors and clients to resolve any cost-related issues promptly.
• Support contract administration including preparation and assessment of contract variations and claims.
• Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions and project documentation.

Required Qualifications

• Full driving licence valid in the United Kingdom.
• Demonstrable experience in quantity surveying within new build housing projects.

Education

• Relevant degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline is preferred.
• Membership or working towards membership of a recognised professional body (e.g. RICS) is advantageous but not essential.

Experience

• Proven track record working on residential new build developments.
• Experience preparing cost plans, tender documents and valuations.
• Familiarity with contract administration and cost control procedures.

Knowledge and Skills

• Strong understanding of construction methods and materials specific to housing developments.
• Excellent numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Proficient in quantity surveying software and Microsoft Office applications.
• Effective communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to managing project costs.

Working Conditions

• Office-based role with regular visits to construction sites within the West Midlands region.
• Standard full-time working hours with occasional flexibility required to meet project deadlines.
• Use of a company vehicle or car allowance provided to facilitate travel between sites.
• Health and safety compliance expected when on site at all times.
