Creative Writer (Content Creator)
The Role
The Creative Writer will a pivotal role in crafting compelling written content that supports both internal and external communications. This individual will develop engaging and persuasive materials, including award submissions, marketing collateral, and both internal and external communications, ensuring Barhale’s messaging is consistent, professional, and impactful. The role will be based in St Albans with a national coverage and a requirement to travel to different offices and site locations when projects are being worked on.
Key Responsibilities
Creative Content Development
- Write and edit engaging content for a variety of channels, including newsletters, case studies, award submissions, press releases, social media, and website updates
- Produce credible and high-quality award submissions, working closely with teams across the business in addition to our clients to gather relevant information
- Develop compelling case studies and project summaries to showcase Barhale’s expertise and successes
- Support bids and tenders by crafting clear and impactful written content tailored to client needs
Storytelling and Brand Representation
- Work with internal teams to uncover and share stories that highlight Barhale’s projects, people and values
- Maintain and enhance the Barhale brand voice and tone across all written materials, ensuring consistency and professionalism
Internal Communications
- Support the delivery of internal communications campaigns by creating content that informs, engages, and inspires employees
- Collaborate with the marketing & communications team to enhance the internal cascade and Barhale News process with engaging written materials
Research and Strategy
- Conduct research to support content creation, including gathering insights on industry trends, competitor activity and client profiles
- Produce written project and company evidence in readiness for AMP8 and AMP9
- Proactively identify opportunities to create content that aligns with Barhale’s goals and supports campaigns
Collaboration and Coordination
- Reporting to and working closely with the Business Development & Communications Director to prioritise and deliver high-quality written materials
- Partner with the wider team to ensure seamless integration of written content into wider campaigns and initiatives
About you
Essential
- Proven experience in professional writing, journalism, or creative content creation
- Demonstrated ability to write for diverse audiences and adapt tone and style accordingly
- Experience with persuasive writing, such as award submissions, tenders, or marketing campaigns
- As the role requires a high volume of professionally written internal and external communication, for a wide range of audiences using different media channels, proficiency in English is essential
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills
- Strong research and storytelling abilities
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of packages (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Highly organised and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively
- Strong communicator and collaborator
Desirable
- Knowledge of content management systems and social media platforms is a plus
- Creative thinker with a keen eye for detail
- Familiarity with B2B industries, infrastructure, or engineering is advantageous but not essential
