Digital Process & Automation Specialist (Power Platform)

1 FTE / 35 Hours per week - 1 Year Fixed Term Contract

Grade 5, starting at £26,707

This is a hybrid role; however, regular on-campus presence is essential to support collaboration and service delivery.

Who we’re looking for:
You will serve as the in-house expert on the Microsoft Power Platform and M365 suite, delivering practical digital improvements across the institution. This technical role bridges strategic design and hands-on delivery, translating business process ideas into automated workflows, apps, and data models that create immediate value while supporting long-term digital goals.

This role offers the opportunity to make a tangible impact by improving staff and student experiences through innovative digital solutions. The successful candidate will work at the forefront of a large-scale digital transformation, helping the higher education institution achieve its strategic goals while building a culture of efficiency and innovation.

Key Responsibilites:
• Design, develop, and deploy solutions using Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, and SharePoint Online.
• Automate manual, paper-based, or email-driven business workflows to improve operational efficiency.
• Build simple, effective data models within the M365 ecosystem to support reporting and analytics.
• Collaborate with Data Analysts and Database Administrators to ensure clean, reportable data and seamless integration with core systems.
• Provide expert guidance on Power Platform capabilities, feasibility, and best practices for rapid solution delivery.
• Support and mentor “citizen developers” across the institution, promoting effective use of digital tools.
• Maintain documentation and ensure solutions are future-proofed for long-term CRM integration.

Requirements:
• Proven experience with Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI) and SharePoint Online.
• Strong skills in process analysis, workflow automation, and data modeling.
• Ability to translate complex business needs into practical technical solutions.
• Collaborative mindset and experience working across cross-functional teams.
• Understanding of CRM strategy and system integration is desirable.

You’ll need to enjoy:
• Collaborating with others: working across teams to deliver joined-up digital workflows
• Problem Solving & Solution Engineering: working with stakeholders to overcome challenges and digitise processes
• Communicating with impact: translating complex information into clear, compelling narratives
• Working flexibly and at pace: managing multiple priorities and adapting to change with confidence

Where you’ll work:
You’ll be based in the Digital, Data & Technology Directorate on our green campus in the north of Plymouth.

Under our hybrid working policy, you may work from home or on campus; however, regular on-site presence is expected to support collaboration, stakeholder engagement and delivery.
