SEN Learning Support Assistant Winchester
Prospero Teaching is looking for a dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistant to join a warm and inclusive school in Winchester. You will be supporting pupils with a variety of additional needs, helping them to access learning, build confidence, manage emotions, and make positive progress in a safe and structured environment.
This role is ideal for someone who wants to make a meaningful difference in a child's school experience. Whether you have worked in care, support, youth work, SEND, or you're a graduate seeking hands-on experience in education, this role will give you the opportunity to build strong, supportive relationships with pupils who need consistency and patience.
The Role:
Provide 1:1 support for pupils with a range of SEND needs
Assist with small-group interventions and classroom learning
Help pupils regulate emotions, stay on task, and build essential skills
Work closely with teachers and SENCO to implement supportive strategies
Encourage independence, resilience, and positive social interactions
Contribute to a calm, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
Support pupils during lessons, transitions, and daily routines
Ideal Candidate:
Experience with SEND, care, youth work, or support roles
Calm, patient, and positive in challenging situations
Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust
Passionate about helping pupils grow academically and emotionally
Graduates in psychology, criminology, education, or related fields welcome
Adaptable and confident working with different year groups

Position: SEN Learning Support Assistant
Location: Winchester
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: Full-time/Part-time
Pay: £14.66 - £15.66 per hour
Contract: Long
Experience, Training & Safeguarding:
Experience supporting children or vulnerable individuals preferred
Training in safeguarding can be provided
Understanding of SEND strategies beneficial
Eligibility:
Right to work in the UK
Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
