Summary
Quantity Surveyor - Western Division (Oxford/Abingdon)
We are seeking a commercially sharp and driven Quantity Surveyor to take the lead on a new 24-unit residential development in the Oxford North area. This isn't a "package" role; we need a surveyor who can own the project from a prelims perspective, work hand-in-hand with the site team, and serve as the primary commercial point of contact for our clients.
You will be joining our Western Division, reporting directly to the Commercial Manager.
The Portfolio-
Lead Site: A 24-unit development located in a prime Oxford North canal-side location.
-
Supporting Roles: You will also provide commercial support for a nearby flagship canal-side project and an additional 90-unit site in the local area. Both supporting sites have dedicated QSs in place, allowing for a collaborative environment.
-
Build Type: Traditional build projects with some RC frame elements (No timber frame).
This is a site-based position that requires a "boots on the ground" approach to commercial management. Your key responsibilities include:
-
Client Management: Leading client meetings and maintaining strong professional relationships.
-
Value Management: Optimising values, managing variations, and handling valuations with precision.
-
Project Ownership: Running the job from a prelims perspective and collaborating closely with the site production team.
-
Reporting: Providing clear, accurate commercial updates to the Divisional Commercial Manager.
-
Location: Primarily site-based (Oxford North area), with one day per week (typically Wednesdays) in our Abingdon office.
-
Package: £65,000 - £70,000 base salary + £6,900 Car Allowance.
-
Start Date: ASAP.
You are a surveyor who thrives on autonomy but enjoys the backing of a solid divisional team. You should have:
-
Proven experience in traditional build residential projects.
-
The confidence to lead client-facing meetings and negotiations.
-
A track record of managing variations and valuations to drive project profitability.
-
A "whole-job" mindset, looking at the project beyond just specific trade packages.
