Summary

About Dimensions

Turn everyday moments into difference. At Dimensions, every day is a chance to make a real difference. As a Support Worker in Cambridge, you'll bring purpose and stability to someone's life - helping two gentlemen enjoy the routines and moments that matter most to them. Recognised as a Great Place to Work for seven years running, we'll support you to grow, feel valued, and take pride in the difference you make every single day.

About the role

- Support Worker

- Part time - 22.5 hours per week

- Waterbeach, Cambridgeshire.

- Full UK driving licence essential.

In this role, you will be supporting two older gentlemen in their late 50s to 60s who share a supported living home. Both men have autism, profound learning disabilities, and high-risk epilepsy. This means the job requires someone who is patient, observant and able to build trust through calm, consistent support.

Your days will be shaped by what matters to them. They enjoy spending time in their own home where they feel most comfortable, going out for long walks, listening to music, dancing, and getting involved in cooking as part of their daily routine. We are also helping them develop more confidence in going out, so you will play a key role in encouraging outings and supporting them to enjoy experiences in the community.

A central part of your job will be providing 1:1 support, with two Support Workers on shift at all times. You'll assist with personal care, as well as oral medication administration, meal preparation, and support with eating and drinking.

To work effectively in this role, you'll need to be someone who can tune into non-verbal cues and understand what the men are expressing through their actions and behaviours. Using Dimensions' Activate model, you'll help them make choices, learn new skills, and enjoy hobbies that support their independence and quality of life.

You must be able to reliably arrive for a 7am start, as this is essential to meet their daily routines. The early start time is non-negotiable, so please ensure you have researched travel options before applying. A full UK manual and automatic driving licence is required, although you do not need to own a car.

Your shift pattern will include 7am-2:30pm, 2:30pm-10pm, and occasional long days (7am-10pm), working every other weekend.

About You

This role would suit someone who is calm, observant, and compassionate, and who enjoys building relationships through consistency and routine. You'll be supported to use our person-centred Activate model to enable the gentlemen to make choices and develop skills in their everyday lives.

You don't need previous experience—just the right values and willingness to learn. Full training is provided, including specialist training related to communication and epilepsy.
