Summary


Whilst the advert is for Fern Acute Ward – we will be engaging with our staff and SU’s about the name change, it will still be a 17 bed male acute ward

The postholder will be working with a multidisciplinary team consisting of consultant psychiatrist, psychiatry/foundation/GP doctors in training, advance nurse practitioners, nurses, occupational therapists, psychologists, and support workers. They will attend and chair ward rounds, conduct reviews, and create management plans for patients on the ward. It also includes making decisions about patient care in the absence of the consultant, seeking advice from covering consultant when appropriate. The postholder will participate in leading clinical decision making in the multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of high-quality care and supervise junior resident doctors on the ward.

Clinical Role

• Attend and chair ward rounds, conduct reviews, and create management plans for patients on the ward. It also includes making decisions about patient care in the absence of the consultant, seeking advice from covering consultant when appropriate.
• Complete, review and authorize discharge summaries as required.
• MHA work including preparation of tribunal reports and presenting evidence at the tribunal hearings.
• MHA work related to Consent to treatment, SOAD requests.
• Assess and manage physical health for patients on the inpatient wards.
• Supervise more junior resident doctors on the ward.



Leadership role

• Participate in leading clinical decision making in the multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of high-quality care.
• Be involved in developing service clinical priorities in line with national and professional guidance and standards.
• Be involved in clinical governance related activities such as audits and quality improvement projects.



Educational role

• Provide supervision and support to doctors in training working with the team.
• Provide teaching to medical students and doctors in training working in the trust.
• Maintain mandatory training requirements
