Whilst the advert is for Fern Acute Ward – we will be engaging with our staff and SU’s about the name change, it will still be a 17 bed male acute ward

This is a full-time Resident doctor role working supporting the inpatient service, working alongside other resident doctors and a consultant psychiatrist.

Clinical role

• Attend ward rounds, conduct reviews, and create management plans for patients on the ward. It also includes, at times chairing ward rounds in the absence of the consultant, seeking advice from covering consultant when appropriate.
• Complete and review discharge summaries as required.
• MHA work such as Section 5 (2).
• Assess and manage physical health for patients on the inpatient wards.
• Participate in supporting the clinical decision making in the multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of high-quality care.

Leadership Role

Be involved in clinical governance related activities such as audits and quality improvement projects.

Educational Role

Provide teaching to medical students

It is expected that the post holder will:

• Undertake the administrative duties associated with the care of patients.
• Record clinical activity accurately and comprehensively in a timely manner to our electronic patient notes.
• Maintain professional registration with the General Medical Council and to abide by professional codes of conduct. Comply with the Trust’s agreed policies, procedures, standing orders and financial instructions, and to take an active role in the financial management of the service and support the medical director and other managers in preparing plans for services.
