Summary
We are currently seeking temporary cover for the following post.
Instructor: Mechanical Engineering
To instruct learners, provide technical support and prepare materials as required in relevant workshops.
This is a Temporary position for up to 25 hours per week as follows (N.B. due to student timetables the hours are not negotiable):
- Monday 5.25 hours 9.00am - 11.00am 12.45pm - 4.00pm
- Tuesday 6.5 hours 10.30am - 12.30pm 1.00pm - 5.30pm
- Wednesday 4.5 hours 9.00am - 11.00am 1.45pm - 4.30pm
- Thursday 4.0 hours 9.00am - 11.00am 1.15pm - 3.15pm
- Friday 4.25 hours 11.15am - 1.15pm 1.45pm - 4.00pm
Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- To deliver the practical activities associated with the range of qualifications within the programme area of Mechanical Engineering from levels 1 to 3
- To assist in the co-ordination and management of the relevant practical activities
- To promote and develop Essential Skills Wales in the associated practical activities
- To assist in the development of the practical aspects of the curriculum
- To work effectively with course teams
- To liaise with colleagues in the management of resources
- To assess and verify learners' practical projects and coursework
- To monitor and provide reports on learner progress as required
- To demonstrate commitment towards pastoral care and academic progress of learners and provide appropriate guidance for progression
- To attend regular meetings as required e.g. School, course team, Quality, learner reviews, parents' evening and INSET events
- To complete administrative procedures as required e.g. Class registers, statistical returns, examination entries
- To assist in organising appropriate educational visits and events as required
- To assist in marketing, recruitment, and enrolment
- To assist in internal moderation/verification and Quality issues
- To liaise with colleagues and external organisations as required
Candidates should possess a Level 3 qualification in the subject area (NVQ or equivalent) and have relevant experience along with level 2 qualifications in Maths and English and be IT Literate to level 2. Candidates should also have knowledge of Health and Safety requirements.
Candidates must be fully compliance checked prior to commencement including references and enhanced DBS and must be registered with the EWC as Further Education Support Worker
