Summary

The Council Tax & Business Rates teams play a vital role in collecting income for the authority by assessing, charging and billing tax / ratepayers.



The collection of the above charges plays a vital role in providing services to Calderdale and its residents.



Keeping up to date records of all individual and business accounts across the Borough is key to the collection of these accounts, which provide services for the whole of Calderdale.



The role of a Council Tax Billing & Recovery Officer is to maximise the collection rates for Council Tax and Business Rates accounts, to provide professional customer service to all residents and be responsible for the recovery of any outstanding accounts that have not being paid.



The ideal candidate should have excellent communication skills, with tact and diplomacy, and be able to organise their own workload with minimum supervision.



Good analytical skills are also required to interpret information in order to resolve problems or to enable judgements to be made.
