Summary

A Vacancy at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.


The Specialty Doctors will be expected to exercise an intermediate level of clinical responsibility but ultimate responsibility for thepatientstheytreatwillrestwiththerelevantconsultant.Atleastonesessionperweekwillbe under consultant supervision.

The core hours are 08:00 to 18:00 and on call shifts are 08:00 to 20:30 and 20:00 to 08:30. The rota is currently 1:8 and includes normal days, long days and nights. Full details will be discussed at interview.

Responsibility will be to the College Tutor and the Clinical Director. The post holder will form one member of a full shift rota which may be in theatres, ICU or obstetrics.

In addition to daytime ICU shifts, work allocated may vary according to requirements and may include daytime PAs in main theatre, day surgery and obstetrics according to experience.

With a new hospital planned for Watford, work underway to update theatres at St Albans City Hospital and plans for a neighbourhood healthcare centre in Hemel Hempstead, this is an exciting time to join us.

AllClinical FellowsinCriticalCareandAnaesthesiahaveacontinuingresponsibilityforthe properfunctioning oftheDepartment. As far asispractical,theappointeewill be expectedto provide emergency cover for colleagues when required.

Teaching, Audit and Clinical Governance half-days are multidisciplinary and will incorporate differentareasofCG,includingjointM&Mmeetings, clinicalaudit,complaintreviewandcritical incident reporting.All Specialty doctors are required to be involved in a clinical audit project.
