A highly regarded school in Tavistock is looking to welcome a SEN Learning Support Assistant to join their dedicated and inclusive team. This is a rewarding full-time opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and helping them thrive both academically and emotionally.
In this role, you'll play a key part in creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment where every child feels supported and valued.
Working closely with teachers and SEN staff, your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the delivery of personalised learning plans tailored to individual needs
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN
- Assisting with lesson preparation and adapting resources to support learning
- Monitoring and recording pupil progress, sharing updates with teaching staff
- Encouraging pupils' emotional, social, and academic development
- Helping maintain a positive, calm, and inclusive classroom environment
- Supporting pupils to build confidence, independence, and positive peer relationships
We're looking for someone who brings patience, empathy, and commitment:
- A Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in education, childcare, or a related field (desirable)
- Experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs
- A strong understanding of inclusive education and SEN support strategies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A calm, adaptable, and nurturing approach
- Good organisational skills and confidence using educational technology
- A commitment to ongoing professional development
- Competitive hourly rate of £14.15
