MIDDAY ASSISTANT with SEN Support Responsibility - Start Date: As soon as possible - Fixed Term: until the end of August 2026
Band 1 SCP 2-3 (£24,413 to £24,796 pro-rata)
Actual Salary £4233 to £4299 per annum
1.5 hours per day (11:50 am to 1:20 pm) Mon to Fri (7.5 hours per week)
Term time only 38 weeks

We are seeking a caring, reliable and enthusiastic Midday Assistant to join our team. This role has a specific focus on supporting a small group of pupils with special educational needs during the lunchtime period.

The successful candidate will play an important role in helping pupils feel safe, supported and included during play and mealtimes. You will work closely with teaching staff and the SEN team to ensure pupils’ individual needs are met and that lunchtime routines are calm, positive and enjoyable.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervising pupils during lunch and playtimes
Providing targeted support for a small group of pupils with special educational needs
Encouraging positive behaviour social interaction and independence
Supporting pupils with routines including transitions eating and play
Ensuring the safety welfare and inclusion of all pupils at all times
Communicating effectively with staff about pupils’ needs and progress

The Ideal Candidate Will:

Be patient nurturing and calm
Have experience working with children ideally including those with special educational needs
Understand the importance of consistency clear boundaries and positive reinforcement
Be able to work as part of a team and follow guidance from teaching and SEN staff
Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

Training and support will be provided where needed. This role would suit someone who enjoys working with children and wants to make a meaningful difference to pupils’ daily school experience.
