Summary
The opportunity now exists for you to join us on this exciting journey. We are looking to recruit a supervisor for our small but dedicated Permanent Way gang. This is a full time, permanent position, based at the Infrastructure Depot, Minffordd, near Porthmadog.

Permanent Way is responsible for the inspection, maintenance and repair of the track and installation of new track. The team also undertake other infrastructure related works (fencing, drainage, lineside clearance) in accordance with current and developing Festiniog Railway Company policies and plans.
Key Duties:
• Supervise permanent way work programmes across the railways
• Supervise and motivate paid staff, volunteers, and contractors
• Organise work programmes for volunteer work parties and induct and train new volunteers
• Utilize resources available to achieve programmes, objectives and targets as required to standards and specifications set
• Lead by example in undertaking permanent way work as required including repairing, replacing and maintaining track works and railway infrastructure and carrying out inspections
• Operate plant and equipment as required
• Ensure that records are maintained
• Carry out Risk Assessments as appropriate
• Understand and comply with the rules and working regulations of the Railway
Successful applicants will be expected to train as diesel locomotive drivers to operate works trains on the entire FfWHR network.
Core Skills:
• Proven experience in Permanent Way maintenance
• Proven experience in supervising and leading small teams
• Good communication and organisational skills
• IT literate
• Full driving licence valid in the UK is essential
• Membership of Permanent Way Institute an advantage
• The ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh is desirable
