Summary
TeacherActive is proud to be working with a specialist SEND provision in Bristol, supporting their recruitment for a dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistant (LSA). This setting supports children and young people with complex social, emotional, and mental health needs, providing a safe, structured, and nurturing environment where pupils are supported to re-engage with learning and develop positive relationships.
The school offers small class sizes, a highly personalised approach to learning, and a strong focus on emotional regulation, behaviour support, and life skills. They are seeking a committed and resilient Learning Support Assistant to join their team on a long-term basis, working full time (5 days per week).
The successful SEND Learning Support Assistant will work with pupils aged 4–19 who may present with SEMH needs, trauma-related behaviours, ASD, communication difficulties, and additional learning needs. The role involves supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, helping them manage emotions, build trust, and access learning in a positive and meaningful way.
The successful SEND Learning Support Assistant will:
✅ Be calm, patient, and emotionally resilient
Have a genuine passion for supporting children with complex needs
Be confident managing challenging behaviour using a trauma-informed approach
Support emotional regulation, routines, and positive behaviour strategies
Be willing to assist with personal care and moving & handling when required
Build strong, consistent relationships that promote safety, trust, and independence
Driving is highly desirable due to the location and nature of the role
Experience in SEND, SEMH, care, or youth work is highly beneficial, though not essential
