At East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, we’re looking for compassionate, motivated individuals to join our team as Clinical Support Workers (CSWs) within our acute care settings.

No Experience? No Problem.

If you’re new to care, no previous experience is required — just a caring nature and a willingness to learn. You’ll receive full training and support to help you succeed.

Already Experienced?

If you are anexperienced CSW, we welcome your skills and knowledge. You will have opportunities to continue developing your practice, contribute to high‑quality patient care, and progress your career within the Trust.

Career Development

Dependant on your experience level you either join us as a band 3 Clinical Support Worker – higher level or as a band 2 Trainee clinical support worker. To be eligible for a band 3 role you must also meet the educational criteria for the role.

The Trainee role is designed to support your development into aBand 3 Clinical Support Worker within 6–12 months, following successful completion of training and competency assessments.
• Provide personal care including bathing, toileting, dressing, and feeding
• Record patient observations including vital signs and escalate concerns
• Support clinical procedures such as wound care, venepuncture, and catheter removal (after training)
• Assist with medication administration and oxygen therapy (after training)
• Escort patients and support enhanced observations
• Maintain accurate documentation and uphold patient dignity and confidentiality

These vacancies are open to individuals who:
• Have never worked in Healthcare but are interested in a change of career, or have previous healthcare experience, but would like to enter the NHS.
• Have a genuine desire to work in a healthcare setting,
• Have previous work experience and can demonstrate transferable skills,
• Are able to commit to a full week of induction training at the start of employment,
• Are able to work flexibly across a range of shifts (days, nights and weekends) to meet the needs of our services,
• Are capable of successfully completing the mandatory Care Certificate training,
• Hold GSCE Maths and English grade C/4 or above (or a comparable international qualification) Or is capable of successfully completing Level 2 functional skills within 12 months.
• Applicants who do not hold the relevant qualifications will be required to take an assessment at interview stage and must also meet the following eligibility criteria: Aged 19 or over, Living in England,Lived in the UK or EU/EEA for the last 3 years,Not currently enrolled on any other government funded course or started another application for one.
