Ready to impact a better future?As a Receptionist in our Justice and Immigration team at HMP Fosse Way, you’ll be a trusted first point of contact, helping us create a safe, secure, and supportive environment. Your work will ensure every visitor experiences professionalism, care, and respect from the moment they arrive.
HMP Fosse Way is a modern, purpose‑built resettlement prison designed to support rehabilitation and reduce re‑offending. In this role, you’ll help create a calm, well‑managed space where colleagues, visitors, and the people in our care feel welcome and safe — contributing to work that has a positive impact on communities and futures.
What you’ll do as a ReceptionistYou’ll be entrusted to:
- Manage the entrance lobby, ensuring all visitors are efficiently booked in and supported.
- Provide a professional front of house service and follow all security procedures.
- Act as the main point of contact for incoming visitors and respond to enquiries confidently.
- Verify visitor identification in line with security requirements.
- Maintain a welcoming, presentable reception area at all times.
- Secure items appropriately and handle prisoner property in line with protocols.
- Respond to telephone enquiries in a courteous and timely manner.
- Demonstrate approachability, professionalism, and responsibility.
- Ensure compliance with data protection regulations.

- Previous experience as a receptionist or in another face‑to‑face customer service role.
- Strong people skills and confidence engaging with diverse groups.
- Excellent IT skills and the ability to learn new systems.
- A proactive, positive attitude and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
- Flexibility to support the team outside standard office hours when required.
