Summary
Deputy Medical Director:
Are you a practicing GMC registered Consultant in Emergency Medicine, Acute/ General Medicine or Geriatrics or a General Practitioner with experience in delivering out of hospital alternative pathways, Same Day Emergency Care or Frailty pathways? The Deputy Medical Director has a key leadership role in an anchor organisationworking across the 3 Integrated Care Systems of the Yorkshire health economy. The Trust’s clinical workforce comprises a diverse range of clinicians, including core ambulance paramedic teams, specialist, advanced and consultant-level practitioners, supported by both operational and quality directorate teams, alongside the Remote Care Team.
The Deputy Medical Director will support and enable these clinical teams to drive improvements in patient care and develop new and innovative approaches to urgent and emergency care delivery, pushing the boundaries of contemporary practice through strong evidence-based care and collaborative working, and positioning Yorkshire Ambulance Service at the forefront of modern healthcare delivery.
· Drive improvements in patient care and develop new and innovative approaches to service delivery in urgent and emergency care with a focus on ensuring patients get the right response, first time. In particular, maximising opportunities for Hear and Treat and See and treat.
· In partnership with our acute and community Trusts maximise the use of pathways to avoid Accident and Emergency conveyance.
· Develop clinical leadership and support engagement with the Trust’s clinical workforce, maximising opportunities for the contribution of clinical professionals to the shaping of Trust and wider system clinical strategy and priorities.
· Deputise for the Medical Director at the national forum of Medical Directors of Ambulance Trusts (NASMed), and other national fora in the ambulance sector, influencing the development of both national strategic policy and direct clinical practice in the ambulance sector (including JRCALC) and more widely in urgent and emergency care.
· Develop strong external system engagement and visibility in clinical networks nationally, regionally and across Yorkshire and bilaterally with clinical leadership in other ambulance trusts and in acute, community, mental health and primary care providers working for your organisation.
