SEN Teacher Needed – Specialist School in Uxbridge
Special School | Ages 7–19 | Complex Needs (SLD, PLD, SEMH, ASD)
We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and adaptable SEN Teacher to join a specialist school in Uxbridge, supporting pupils aged 7–19 with a range of complex learning and additional needs, including Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PLD), Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH), and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about inclusive education and committed to helping children and young people with complex needs thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
About the Role
As an SEN Teacher, you will deliver highly personalised and engaging learning experiences tailored to pupils’ individual needs, abilities, and EHCP outcomes. Teaching will take place in small classes, supported by skilled teaching assistants and a multidisciplinary team, allowing you to focus on meaningful progress, communication, independence, and wellbeing.
You will work across a 7–19 age range, adapting your approach to meet learners at different developmental stages and ensuring learning is accessible, motivating, and purposeful.
Key Responsibilities
•
Plan and deliver differentiated, engaging lessons aligned with individual EHCP targets
•
Teach pupils with SLD, PLD, SEMH, and ASD using creative, multisensory approaches
•
Create a structured, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment
•
Use alternative and augmentative communication (AAC), where appropriate
•
Monitor progress and contribute to reviews and assessment processes
•
Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and pastoral teams
•
Promote independence, confidence, emotional regulation, and positive behaviour
About You
•
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or equivalent)
•
Experience teaching pupils with SEN and complex needs is highly desirable
•
Understanding of ASD, SEMH, SLD and/or PLD (training and support provided where needed)
•
Patient, flexible, and resilient, with a calm and nurturing approach
•
Committed to inclusive, child-centred practice and positive outcomes for all learners
•
Open to learning and developing specialist SEN skills
