About the Opportunity

This important role within the Digital team works with a range of stakeholders across Soil Association, to deliver a high-quality user experience on www.soilassociation.org and other Soil Association websites.

Working closely with the Content and UX Designer, you will design, create and update content, applying user insight, data and evidence to improve content clarity, accessibility and effectiveness. You will support ongoing testing, iteration and improvement of content, as well as the processes, standards and governance that ensure consistently high-quality content.

You will work collaboratively with an internal network of digital content partners and provide best-practice advice, user insight, evidence, and hands-on content design support. You will also contribute to the delivery of our digital training programme, helping colleagues build confidence in creating user-centred and accessible content.

Initially, the focus of the role will be supporting a large website replatforming project and content migration, implementing improved user experience, consistency, content quality and governance across our website content.

You’ll be joining a friendly, supportive and motivated team, in a flexible and welcoming working environment. The role is hybrid - working remotely, with 1 day a week in person in the Bristol office. This is a part time role (28 hours a week), and we can be flexible about how you fit your hours into the week.



About You

You’ll be a curious and self-motivated person with an interest in developing your skills in a user-centred content design role. You will have a good understanding of content design principles, and have experience of writing, editing and structuring content using a CMS (preferably Umbraco).

You will be able to work collaboratively with stakeholders and subject matter experts, and be comfortable working with stakeholders with a range of digital skills. You will have experience of maintaining consistency and style to uphold content quality, and an understanding of accessibility, Plain English and SEO, and how people find and use content online.

You will also have a basic understanding of user-centred principles, including the role of user insight, data and evidence in creating high quality, user-facing content. Experience of working in the charity or not-for-profit sector, and of website replatforming or migration projects would be an advantage.
