Summary
**Important notice**
In line with our redeployment policy, we’ll prioritise applications from National Trust employees who are under formal notice of redundancy.
We’re looking for a Welcome Manager to work across our outdoor sites in the Lake District. You will primarily be based at Wray Castle (LA22 0JA), but as part of your role you will help our teams across our outdoor sites in the Lake District create experiences that drive visitor growth and repeat visits. These will include developing waymarked routes, outdoor trails and visitor itineraries, as a few examples.
This role is based on annualised hours, where the amount of hours you work each month may vary, however your salary will be paid in 12 equal instalments over the year. This will involve working more days in the summer and fewer in winter. This arrangement could be negotiable if you need to work the same hours each week. Regular weekend working and working during school holidays are a requirement of this role.
If you would like to apply, take the time to read the rest of this advert and the role profile attached. We’ll need to see a CV and Supporting Statement uploaded to the National Trust Jobs website, and we’re looking for evidence of the skills listed in the “Who we are looking for” section below.
To fully understand the role, we also recommend that you refer to the additional information attached to this advertisement.
A full driving license is required for this role as you'll need to drive to different sites as part of your working day.
If you have any questions, or would like an informal chat about the role, please contact Amy Pitch, Visitor Operations & Experience Manager: amy.pitch@nationaltrust.org.uk
What it's like to work here
You’ll be part of the Lakes and Eden Property Group, bringing together the National Trust’s built and designed heritage in some of the nations most loved Lake District landscapes and places. From the sublime designed landscapes of Aira Force and Tarn Hows to the homes of some of the most important people in history, including Beatrix Potter’s Hilltop and the former home of Wordworth and Canon Rawnsley at Allan Bank in Grasmere.
You will be based at Wray Castle (LA22 0JA), with requirement to work occasionally at other National Trust sites in the Lake District, as your role requires.
What you'll be doing
You’ll be the lead for developing the visitor experience in the outdoors, with a focus on Wray, Tarn Hows, Aira Force and Acorn Bank as well as some of our other visitor places – permissive paths, car parks and popular walks.
You’ll also provide duty management cover for Wray as part of a rota.
You will contribute to creating a positive, inclusive, collaborative work environment focused on delivering the Trust’s strategy.
You will work closely with cross-departmental colleagues to lead staff and volunteers to deliver excellent visitor service, presentation standards and conservation standards. Working with the other Welcome Managers, Site Managers and Facilities Managers, you will also be required to liaise with contractors.
You will have a shared responsibility for key performance indicators (KPIs) across membership recruitment, visitor satisfaction and fundraising.
You can view the full role profile for this role in the document attached. You don't need to have all the knowledge, skills and experience listed in the role profile; this is just to provide a full picture of what’s possible in this role.
