The Role: Under guidance and mentorship from senior engineers, the trainee contributes to enhancing customer technology environments, supporting the reliability, security, and performance of both on-premises and cloud-based infrastructures.
The role provides hands on experience across servers, networking, cloud platforms, and end-point support, with installation projects and customer communication carried out in collaboration with senior team members.

Some of the Key Responsibilities

Execution & Management

Carry out basic IT installation tasks under supervision, following clear instructions and established procedures.
Assist with straightforward technical projects such as hardware installations and cloud policy configuration.
Assist with the creation and maintenance of technical, site, and project documentation.
Support the setup of user accounts, devices, and access permissions following guidance from the team.
Actively participate in and complete all requirements of the Level 3 Information Communication Technician Apprenticeship, including scheduled training, assessments, reviews, and off-the-job learning, as completion of the apprenticeship is a core requirement of the role.

Leadership & Decision Making

Make simple day-to-day decisions confidently within clearly defined boundaries and with guidance from senior team members.
Use basic troubleshooting and installation steps to identify straightforward issues, asking for support when problems become more complex.
Follow structured processes and checklists to ensure tasks are completed safely, securely, and correctly.
Build confidence in understanding how your tasks contribute to wider IT goals such as system uptime, security, and user satisfaction.

Growth & Mindset

Take ownership of your learning, development, and apprenticeship commitments.
Seek regular feedback and apply it to strengthen your technical and professional skills.
Show curiosity about how IT infrastructure works and how it supports the wider business.
Demonstrate resilience when facing technical challenges or busy periods.
Take proactive steps toward progressing within the IT Infrastructure career pathway.
