We are seeking to appoint to a Consultant Psychiatrist post within Adult Mental Health Inpatient and Liaison Services, based in Scunthorpe and covering the area of North Lincolnshire. The Trust provides a comprehensive adult, child, older adult, learning disability, and community forensic mental health services to Rotherham, Doncaster and North Lincolnshire. It also provides Community Physical Health Services and Substance Misuse Services in Doncaster.

Applicants must be on the GMC Specialist Register for Older Adult Psychiatry or a trainee within 6 months of completing their CCT and be approved/eligible for approval for Section 12(2) and Approved Clinician status. They should have evidence of good communication skills and a commitment to multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working.

The Teams in North Lincolnshire is keen to welcome applications from dynamic psychiatrists with a progressive approach to MDT working, to provide senior medical input to patient care for adults of working age in our Acute Care Pathway.

Working as a member of Multidisciplinary Teams, the postholder will provide Consultant clinical input, including face-to-face patient assessment for complex Acute Hospital Liaison, Care Home Liaison and CRHT cases for older adults; and be the Senior Medical Lead for Laurel Ward. The clinical care of patients under these Teams will be timely and tailored to meet the needs of patients and carers. The Consultant will be expected to have a flexible weekly timetable designed to respond in a timely and reasonable manner to meet the needs of patients and carers as well as support and advise Team members as necessary. The postholder will work through advice and supervision with direct patient contact, as required. This is a district-wide service with rapid throughput of patients, and there is a need for prompt and flexible decision making. This more fluid style of working does not allow for easy quantification of workload.

This is a whole time (10PA) Consultant post within Older Persons Mental Health Services with on-call duties. The postholder will be based at Great Oaks, Scunthorpe, which houses the 2 inpatient psychiatric wards in North Lincolnshire: Laurel Ward is for people over 65 years; and the Mulberry House ward is for adults of working age. The Adult and Older Adult and Acute Care non-bed-based services are also based here.
