Commutable from: Wimbledon, Morden, Mitcham, Colliers Wood, Raynes Park, Tooting, Sutton (approx. 30 mins via public transport / 45 mins driving).
A vibrant Primary School in Merton is looking for a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join its team immediately. This school is renowned for its structured approach and emphasis on positive reinforcement, providing an ideal environment for a professional looking to make a genuine difference.
The role is available for an immediate start on a long-term basis, with a strong possibility of transitioning to a permanent contract for the right candidate. You will play a pivotal role in the classroom, specialising in the creation of an inclusive atmosphere where every pupil can thrive.
Your responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored support to specific pupils through 1:1 sessions or small group interventions.
- Apply proactive strategies to help children develop emotional resilience and self-regulation.
- Establish firm, respectful, and professional boundaries with all students.
- Use effective de-escalation methods while remaining calm during high-pressure moments.
- Actively support the social and emotional growth of pupils to improve learning outcomes.
About you:
- Previous experience managing challenging behaviour within a school or educational setting.
- A solid grasp of various behaviour management frameworks and support techniques.
- The ability to remain patient and resilient in demanding environments.
- A natural ability to build rapport and engage students who find traditional learning difficult.
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or a willingness to apply for one immediately.
