Salary: up to £30,000 (full time equivalent)

We’re expanding, and we need a Payroll Coordinator who loves accuracy, thrives on pace, and wants to make a visible impact to join our brand-new head office in Pocklington. You’ll report to the Payroll Team Leader and be part of a close‑knit team that keeps our workforce running smoothly.

We’re delighted to welcome both full‑time and part‑time applicants. We know flexibility matters, so we’re happy to explore shorter workdays to support childcare or other commitments. Just let us know your availability during your interview, and we’ll work together to find a schedule that fits.

Why you’ll love doing this role at Ashcourt:

Join a growing, innovative, family‑run group that builds with quality, sustainability and community in mind
Access to our Employee Assistance Programme and practical support when you need it, employee benefits app with discounts on gyms, restaurants, and shops, and access to a virtual GP 24/7
We invest in our people. Learn, develop and progress as our Group continues to expand!
What you’ll get to do

Processing: Own weekly & monthly payroll for circa 700 PAYE employees, plus fortnightly payments for 200 subcontractors, with precision.
Be the problem‑solver: Manage the payroll inbox, answer queries with confidence, and escalate when needed.
Employee lifecycle: Set up starters, process leavers, calculate holiday, and action changes (pay rises, bonuses, commissions, deductions).
Keep us compliant: Liaise with HMRC, support P11Ds and statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP), and translate legislation into clear action. Produce regular and ad‑hoc reports that leaders rely on.
Wider team support: Pitch in on HR projects and help us continuously improve how we work.
What you’ll bring

CIPP (or equivalent) OR proven payroll experience.
Hands‑on with Sage 50 (or similar), plus Excel savvy.
Up‑to‑the‑minute knowledge of UK payroll legislation—and the calm, organised mindset to hit deadlines under pressure.
A high bar for confidentiality, accuracy and clear communication.
We are committed to making reasonable adjustments throughout the application, recruitment, and onboarding processes for candidates that require additional support and/or adjustments to be made. If you are having any difficulty applying, please contact our recruitment team at careers@ashcourt.com.
