Due to ever increasing numbers Culverdene Day Nursery are looking to employ two Early Years Practitioner, working a minimum of 34 hours per week, term time only. The shifts will consist of some 7:30 starts and some 6:00pm finishes.

One position is in our under two provision and one position is working between our two year old provision and pre-school.

This is an opportunity to join our amazing, dedicated team to provide high quality care and development in line with EYFS to children from birth to five years.
Candidates must be qualified to a level 3 in childcare.

Main duties
• To deliver outstanding care and education experiences to all the children, parents/carers and visitors to the nursery ensuring the modelling outstanding practice at all times
• To help ensure the nursery meets Ofsted requirements at all times, promoting outstanding practice throughout the day.
• Provide an enabling environment, both indoors and outdoors; that is rich and includes continuous provision
• Taking an active role in the decision making process of the nursery to enhance the enabling environment, learning and development and positive relationships
• To actively promote health, safety and welfare of children, employees and families in line with the nursery policies and procedures. Ensuring correct reporting procedures are adhered to at all times
• Promote the nursery to existing families; and new perspectives in order to support retention and grow occupancy levels at the nursery
• To accurately complete accident, incident, medication records and care plans on the correct forms ensuring these are shared with a member of the management team and all information is reported accurately
• To follow the lead of the SENCO to ensure all children’s records of learning and development are accurate and continuously reviewed, share with parents, carers and other key adults in the child’s life.
• To uphold effective teamwork on a day to day basis, knowing where to go for support and guidance
• To ensure you fully uphold your role throughout the day to ensure equal team work, communication and support is effective
• Liaise with and support parents and other family members to engage in the children’s learning journey and early years experiences including developing effective two way communication and support. This is especially vital in the families early experiences within the nursery therefore working alongside management to create an effective and unique settling in procedures tailored to each individual child
• Ensuring you go above and beyond your role to provide a nurturing and unique experience for each individual child. Using your passion as a Early Years Practitioner to develop children’s security, confidence, self esteem and fun nature
• To be involved in out of working hours activities, e.g. training, monthly staff meetings, parents evening, fundraising and social events etc.
• Undertake certain domestic jobs within the nursery, and such other duties and responsibilities of an equivalent nature as may be determined from time to time by the Management team
• Participate in training programmes with a wide variety of students (i.e. placements and apprentices) by giving guidance and support
• Read, understand and adhere to all policies and procedures relevant to your role as deemed appropriate by the Management team. Ensure you follow all policies and procedures are followed effectively throughout the day
• To ensure good standards of safety, hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times and be responsible for the health and safety standards appropriate for the needs of young children including changing nappies and toilet training.
• To undertake certain domestic jobs within the nursery, eg. Cleansing of equipment of equipment etc and the cleaning of rooms. Ensuring the nursery is kept clean and tidy
• Ensure someone known and agreed by the nursery and parent collects the child
• To be honest with colleagues and management and respect the confidentiality of information received.
• To be an active and effective key person
• To ensure that meal times are a time for learning opportunities and are developed as a “Hygge” experience
• Ensuring all children are cared for to high standards and that their learning, development and care needs are supported and enhanced at all times.
• To ensure the provision of a high-quality environment to meet the needs of individual children regardless of any disabilities, family backgrounds or medical history
• To be aware of the high profile of the nursery and ensure all staff uphold its standards at all times, both within work hours and outside.
• To carry out any other duties requested by the Manager, Deputy Manager or Senior Nursery Practitioner.


This is a physically demanding job which requires adequate level of mobility. If there are any facts which will impede on this you must inform a member of the management team as soon as possible.
