The Opportunity
The Senior EC&I Designer will provide technical leadership, design governance, and support to a team of designers working within a highly regulated nuclear environment. The role ensures that design outputs meet required standards across the full engineering lifecycle—from concept development through to in?service support. This position requires strong EC&I design expertise, excellent CAD capability, and the ability to guide and coordinate multidiscipline design activities.

Your duties and responsibilities will be

- Provide specialist EC&I technical advice, ensuring adherence to engineering standards and promoting effective collaboration across design, engineering, and other functional teams.
- Allocate tasks to a team of designers, review outputs, and ensure cross?discipline coordination in line with regulatory and company requirements.
- Support customer engagement by helping resolve technical and delivery issues, maintaining clear communication, and contributing to strong client relationships.
- Produce and review drawings across basic, detailed, and production design stages, ensuring compliance with recognised engineering and drawing standards.
- Assist in resolving manufacturing and installation queries, contributing to practical and safe engineering solutions.
- Lead low?risk, multi?discipline design packages and contribute to the development of innovative EC&I design solutions.
- Maintain awareness of industry developments, tools, techniques, and best practices relevant to EC&I design.
- Support a culture of quality, safety, and continuous improvement across the design function.

You will have the following qualifications & experience:

- Experience working in a detailed design environment.
- Strong working knowledge of CAD tools relevant to EC&I design.
- Understanding of General Engineering Drawing Practice.
- HNC/HND (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering or design discipline.

It’s great if you also have the following

- Experience within regulated industries such as nuclear, defence, or energy.
- Familiarity with multidiscipline engineering environments.
