Summary
Responsible Individual (Children’s Residential Services)
Location: Croydon (covering homes in Wimbledon, Sutton, Wallington & one new home)
Salary: £70,000+ per annum (depending on experience)
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Working Pattern: 4 days on-site (1 day per home) & 1 day remote
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Responsible Individual (RI) to oversee four children’s residential homes. Three homes are well-established, with one newly registered home. The homes support children and young people aged 8–16, with a mix of Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and Learning Disabilities (LD).
Responsible Individual - Key Responsibilities
- Act as the Responsible Individual in line with Ofsted regulations and Children’s Homes Regulations
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight across all four homes
- Ensure each home consistently delivers high-quality, child-centred care
- Support, mentor, and challenge Registered Managers to maintain compliance and best practice
- Oversee safeguarding, quality assurance, and continuous improvement
- Lead on inspections, audits, and regulatory communication with Ofsted
- Ensure policies, procedures, and practice reflect current legislation and guidance
- Support the development and successful operation of the new home
Responsible Individual Person Specification
- Previous experience as a Responsible Individual/ Director of Operations role within children’s residential services
- Level 5 in Leadership and Management
- In-depth knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations, Quality Standards, and Ofsted frameworks
- Proven experience supporting homes through inspections
- Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills
- Ability to work across multiple sites and manage competing priorities
Must have Right to work in the UK with no restrictions.
