About the Role

This is a high-impact, full-time position for a dedicated Sociology Teacher to join a thriving Humanities department starting this February 2026. The successful educator will be responsible for delivering the A-Level Sociology curriculum, guiding students through the complexities of culture, identity, education, and crime.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Thorough familiarity with current A-Level Sociology specifications (e.g., AQA).
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Enhanced Child DBS on the updated service (Willingness to apply for one)

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver High-Quality Instruction: Plan and teach engaging A-Level lessons that cater to a range of abilities and learning styles.
  • Curriculum Development: Contribute to the design and refinement of schemes of work for the AQA Sociology specification.
  • Assessment and Feedback: Provide rigorous marking and constructive feedback to help students bridge the gap between their current grade and their potential.
  • Data Tracking: Maintain accurate records of student progress to identify and support those requiring intervention.
  • Exam Preparation: Lead intensive revision sessions and provide students with the exam techniques required for top-tier success.
  • Pastoral Care: Act as a Sixth Form tutor, supporting the social, emotional, and academic development of a dedicated cohort.
  • Behaviour Management: Uphold the school's high standards of conduct using established, centralised behaviour policies.
  • Collaborative Planning: Work closely with the Humanities team to share best practices and innovative teaching resources.
  • Extracurricular Engagement: Contribute to the wider life of the school through clubs, trips, or social science seminars.
  • Safeguarding: Maintain a constant commitment to the safety and well-being of all young people in your care.
