National Highways have an excellent opportunity for a Project Manager to join our Third-Party Integration team in Major Projects. As a Project Manager, you will plan and manage the assurance and integration of one or more projects between National Highways and third parties to influence outcomes, mitigate risks and protect National Highways' reputation in the context of our Licence Obligations. You will also work in line with our Corporate Imperatives, Standards and Policies to ensure successful delivery and integration of third-party infrastructure projects, acting in line with mandatory and delegated responsibilities.
Please note this is a full-time site / office-based position and will be based from our Bristol Temple Point office however travel to various sites within the region will be required.
- Contribute to driving improvements in health, safety, and wellbeing, establishing a culture where you prioritise the health, safety and wellbeing of you and your team at all times. Maintain familiarity with all relevant safe working procedures and instructions and be willing to raise health, safety, and wellbeing issues with your line-manager / third parties. Challenge unsafe conditions or behaviours to ensure that everyone gets home safe and well. Ensure third parties are aware of NH health, safety and wellbeing policies, procedures and requirements.
- Develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with the Programme Manager, Senior Project Manager, Project Board, 3rd Party Leads and other key internal and external stakeholders, to ensure full mutual understanding of the projects' strategic and delivery / assurance objectives, to report on and review project performance, and to agree solutions that resolve complex issues.
- Plan and manage NH engagement with third-party design development and agreement and implementation of delivery and integration plans, to ensure that all activities are appropriately organised to deliver project objectives, are appropriately resourced to deliver the required outcomes, and comply with National Highways' Policies, Procedures and locally defined procedures/requirements ensuring the third party demonstrates compliance at all stages.
- Ensuring third parties demonstrate quality assurance, overall integrity consistency and coherence of their programme, active management of interfaces with interdependent programmes / portfolios / projects and robust evidence of compliance with National Highways' technical and specialist standards and relevant technical processes.
- Contribute to the identification and evaluation of third-party interface risks, issues, dependencies, and constraints, escalating where appropriate. Where necessary support development, agreement, and implementation of solutions to overcome these. Identify key NH risks (assurance/reputation/cost) and ensure these are robustly carried forward with third party to appropriate resolution or agreed position
About you.
- Suitably qualified and experienced, ideally with a certified accreditation in project or programme management at International Project Management Association Level C: e.g. (Association of Project Managers' Practitioner Qualification) or similar.
- Ideally a Full Member of Association of Project Managers or other appropriate professional body for their specialist field or a willingness and commitment to attain.
- Evidence of leadership on safety standards and their implementation within multiple team reporting structures within a complex projects' environment.
- Experience of managing complex relationships with multiple stakeholders and evidence of skills to influence relationships for positive outcomes.
- Experience of managing teams to successfully assure and integrate third-party led development of complex, medium/high risk projects or high-profile projects.

External candidates will be offered a starting salary at the lower end of the pay scale, while current employees will be appointed in accordance with our established pay policy.
