Summary

Advocacy is a powerful force for change. It allows individuals to have their voices heard and respected when decisions are being made about their health and social care. It raises awareness of people’s rights and entitlements and empowers people to advocate for themselves.

Are you passionate about people, inclusion, and making a real impact in the charity sector? The Advocacy People is seeking a proactive, professional HR Advisor to join our small, friendly HR team in our Central Services. You’ll play a key role in supporting our mission to put people at the heart of everything we do.

Why Join Us?
• Be part of a values-led, inclusive charity making a real difference to the people we work with.
• Flexible, home-based working with supportive colleagues.
• Opportunities for professional development and growth.
• A culture that values staff wellbeing, innovation, and amplifying voices.

About the Role

As HR Advisor, you will:
• Provide professional, proactive HR support across the full employee lifecycle.
• Act as a first point of contact for employee relations, offering advice and coaching to managers and staff.
• Work with the HR Officer on the coordination of recruitment, onboarding, and induction, ensuring safer recruitment and safeguarding standards.
• Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion in all HR activities.
• Support staff wellbeing initiatives and signpost to appropriate services.
• Uphold confidentiality, GDPR, and best practice in all HR processes.
• Work collaboratively within a small, supportive HR team and with managers across the organisation.

About You

We need you to bring:
• Significant generalist HR experience (ideally 2–3 years+), preferably in the charity, not-for-profit, or care sector.
• Experience managing employee relations cases, recruitment, and onboarding.
• Up-to-date knowledge of UK employment law, ACAS guidance, and HR best practice.
• Experience supporting or delivering training and using HR information systems (HRIS).
• Strong communication, influencing, and relationship-building skills.
• A CIPD Level 5 qualification (or equivalent experience/willingness to study).
• Commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion, and safeguarding.

As this role is home based with occasional travel you will need to have access to use of public transport or own car. Flexibility with working hours, a good mobile signal and broadband service are essential.
