Summary

Special Needs Assistant - Championing Inclusion in Blackburn!

Are you an experienced Special Needs Assistant looking to make a meaningful difference in the heart of Blackburn? Do you have the skills to address diverse needs, including physical, emotional, and cognitive challenges? We are currently seeking certified assistants to provide personalized support within primary education settings across Blackburn starting in January 2026.

In a community that values resilience and growth, your role will be essential in enhancing the educational experience for children with varying requirements. Whether you are supporting students with Autism, Down syndrome, or behavioural challenges, your commitment will help create a classroom where every child feels empowered to reach their full potential.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of resources and activities for 1:1 support tailored to the child's needs.

  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and the SENCO to organise appropriate activities.

  • Liaise with other professionals such as Teachers, TAs, and specialist support staff.

  • Work closely with other LSAs and support staff.

  • Work with classes, small groups, and with children on a one-to-one basis.

  • Monitor and track the development of the pupil in question and support personal development and confidence.

Essential Requirements

  • Experience of working with young people.

  • Be comfortable and confident in managing challenging behaviours.

  • Ability to engage with and build rapport with young people.

  • Be creative, proactive, and flexible in your supporting style.

  • Have experience with SEN or a strong knowledge of learning difficulties.

  • TA qualified.
