Summary

We are looking for a new Marketing Coordinator to join our team. This is a varied, hands-on role combining office-based marketing work with regular time spent on board our barges during the summer months.

Caledonian Discovery offers cruising holidays with outdoor activities along the Great Glen in the Scottish Highlands. We have two large, converted barges and each barge can take up to 12 guests in twin en-suite cabins.

The Marketing Co-ordinator plays a key role in promoting our holidays and maximising occupancy across the season. This is a varied, hands-on role combining office-based marketing work with regular time spent on board our barges during the summer months. Time on board allows the Marketing Co-ordinator to gather content, connect with guests and crew, and gain first-hand insight into the guest experience and day-to-day operations on the Glen.

The role is for 35 hours per week. Longer hours would be required while on board the barges, but time worked beyond 35 hours in the week can be taken as time in lieu.

Key Responsibilities

  • Co-ordinate and deliver the company’s marketing strategy to maximise holiday occupancy.
  • Maintain and develop the company’s online presence, including website and social media channels.
  • Improve online visibility and drive traffic to the website through effective digital marketing.
  • Write marketing copy and create content for the website, email campaigns, and social media.
  • Produce photo and video content for use across marketing channels.
  • Manage advertising activity across print and online platforms.
  • Research and approach new agents and tour operators to expand market reach.
  • Carry out direct marketing to relevant clubs, groups, and organisations.
  • Work closely with the Bookings Manager to handle enquiries, take bookings, and maintain the booking system, including holiday cover.
  • Liaise with the booking system provider to improve system functionality.
  • Produce monthly marketing and booking performance reports.
  • Help set and manage the marketing budget, working within agreed targets.
  • Act as a link between the operations teams on the barges and the office-based administration team.
  • Spend regular periods working on board the barges to gather content, support guest engagement, and assist with general onboard duties as required.
